Projects

A brief introduction to a few types of special effects was given in Chapter 3. In Chapter 10 (Project 1: Guitar Special Effects, pp. 145-169) these and other special effects are discussed in a more general way .

Chapter 11 (Project 2: Graphic Equalizer, pp. 171-181) describes the parallel implementation of M bands FIR based equalizer which was first discussed in Chapter 3.

Chapter 12 (Project 3: Peak Program meter, pp. 183-189) is devoted to peak program meter (PPM) where VU meter's lackluster performance at displaying peak signal is overcome.

Chapter 13 (Project 4: AM Transmitter, pp. 191-198) describes several ways in which double sided AM with carrier can be generated.

One of the most inexpensive AM demodulation techniques employing the envelope detector, is (Project 5: AM Receiver, pp. 199-213) described in Chapter 14.

Chapter 15 (Project 6: Phase-Locked Loop, pp. 215-230) discusses a discretized second order Costas loop.

In Chapter 16 (Project 7: Digital Communication Transmitter, pp. 231-249) random data and symbol generation, binary phase shift-keying (BPSK) using antipodal rectangularly shaped bits, and BPSK using impulse modulated (IM) raised-cosine shaped bits, are discussed.

Chapter 17 (Project 8: Digital Communications Receivers, pp. 251-269) considers a few techniques that can be used to recover the message contained within the BPSK signal.
