Abstract: The paper contains the survey and the comments of the present-day state and modern trends of the development of world's telecommunications. The development trends of public mobile telephony systems, terrestrial as well as of new satellite mobile systems, WLL systems, data networks and the access networks, multimedia, some aspects of Internet, etc., are involved. In the second part of this paper the data on the state of art and development trends of telecommunications in Serbia are discussed.
