NEUE TECHNIK FUER EFFIZIENTE DATENUEBERTRAGUNG DEN ZELLULAREN NETZEN

Alexander Kozlovski, Krzysztof Nowicki und Tadeusz Uhl

Abstract: The paper presents a new data transmission protocol for celluar networks. This protocol allows to use all possible free cell voice subchannels for data transmission. Under the protocol, for each new voice/data call, at least one subchannel is guaranted in the case when: a) at least one subchannel is currently free, or b) at least one multichannel data transmission is in progress. In the latter case, one of the subchannels occupied by the data transmission is freed and assigned to the new call. Such a mechanism contributes to the increase in the channel utilization. A simulation of celluar network operating under the above protocol has been developed. The obtained results confirm that the protocol increases the channel utilization relatively to standard celluar network protocols and reduces the number of lost calls. Basing on the observed simulation runs, one can also conclude that the protocol is free from structural faults.
